Tenura Terms of Service
Version 1.3 — last updated 21 October 2026
These Terms govern your use of Tenura. By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your document and is part of these Terms — please read it alongside them.
1. Who we are
Tenura (the "Service") is operated by NORMID INC ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at privacy@tenura.online.
2. What Tenura is — and what it is not
Tenura reads a tenancy agreement and gives you back:
- Flagged clauses, each with the words in the agreement that caused the flag.
- Missing protections — protections a Nigerian tenancy would usually have and this one appears to lack.
- Questions to ask before you sign.
- A risk score and a short summary.
It is not legal advice
This matters more than anything else on this page. Tenura provides general information about common rental practices to help you read a document. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer, and using it does not create a lawyer–client relationship with us.
Some specific consequences:
- The risk score is a rough indicator, calculated from how many clauses were flagged and how many expected protections were missing. It is not a legal assessment and a low score does not mean an agreement is safe.
- Flags come from two sources. Ones marked "[flagged by rule]" come from fixed rules in our code and are certain about what they detect. Ones marked "[AI suggestion — worth a manual check]" come from an AI model, are verified only to the extent that the quoted words really appear in your agreement, and may be wrong — either pointing at something that is actually fine, or missing something that is not.
- Our reference points are general Nigerian rental norms. They may not reflect the law that applies to your specific agreement, the practice in your state, or a recent change in the law.
- For anything that matters — a large deposit, an unusual term, a dispute with a landlord — speak to a qualified lawyer.
You are responsible for the decision you make about your agreement. We give you a reading aid, not a verdict.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
4. Your responsibilities
When you use Tenura, you agree to:
- Only submit documents you have the right to submit. A tenancy agreement usually contains other people's personal data as well as your own. Do not upload a document you are not entitled to share with us.
- Treat the output as a prompt to look, not a decision. Verify anything important before you act on it.
- Not rely on the Service as legal advice or as a substitute for a lawyer.
- Redact what is not needed if you are uncomfortable sending a document in full. Names, phone numbers and account details are not needed for the analysis to work.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Submit documents you have no right to submit, or content that is unlawful.
- Use the Service to process other people's documents without a lawful basis for doing so.
- Attempt to break, overload, probe or interfere with the Service, or bypass any limit or security control.
- Submit bulk or automated requests, scrape the Service, or use it to build a competing dataset or product.
- Reverse engineer or copy the Service except as expressly permitted by law.
- Attempt to access data belonging to anyone else.
We may suspend or stop your access if we reasonably believe you have breached this section.
6. Your documents, and permission to process them
Your document stays yours. You keep all rights in anything you submit. We claim no ownership of it.
To provide the Service, you give us permission to process the document you submit — including extracting text from it, storing that text, analysing it, and sending selected parts of it to our AI provider as described in the Privacy Policy. That permission is limited to operating and improving the Service for you, and it ends when the data is deleted.
You confirm that you have the right to submit the document, and to let us process any personal data it contains — including other people's — in the way the Privacy Policy describes.
7. Accuracy, and no warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty and give no guarantee that:
- the analysis is accurate, complete, current or correct;
- the flags identify every risky clause, or that every flag is justified;
- the risk score reflects the true risk of your agreement;
- the Service will be available, uninterrupted, timely or free of errors.
We test carefully, and we verify the AI's quotes against the clause text, but no automated analysis of a legal document can be relied on as complete. Laws change and our reference norms are general.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, opportunity, or goodwill.
- We are not liable for any loss arising from a decision you took based on the output of the Service, including signing, declining or renegotiating an agreement.
- Our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of ₦10,000 or the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. The Service is currently free, so in practice that amount is nil.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
9. Availability, changes and limits
Tenura is an early-stage project. We may change, add to, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including imposing limits on how much you can submit. We do not guarantee any level of uptime. We will not be liable to you for any change, suspension or discontinuation.
10. Intellectual property
The Service itself — its name, brand, design, code, reference norms and documentation — belongs to NORMID INC or its licensors. You may not copy, reuse or display our brand or content without our written permission. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.
This section does not affect your ownership of your own document (see section 6) or of the analysis we produce for you.
11. Third-party services
We depend on third parties to run the Service, in particular Rumpty Cloud for hosting and database, Rumpty AI Inference for AI analysis, and Resend for transactional email. If you choose to sign in with Google, that step is handled by Google, and Google's own terms and privacy policy apply to it. Our providers' availability and behaviour affect ours. We choose them with care, but we are not responsible for their acts or omissions, and their terms may also apply to the parts of the Service they provide.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. What happens to any data we hold is governed by the Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from the Service.
Before going to court, please contact us at privacy@tenura.online — most issues are easier to resolve directly.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The version number and date at the top will change, and we will note material changes on the site. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
15. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right on one occasion, that does not mean we have given it up.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to an affiliate or to a successor, and will tell you if we do.
